I moved into my new home in February.  When I did my husband and I purchased all energy star rated appliances (which include our refrigerator, dishwasher, and front load washer and dryer).  I even did my research and bought a double oven stove with convection.  The smaller top oven saves energy because since it is smaller it heats up faster which in turn allows it to cook faster.  The bottom oven has a convection option which cooks your food faster by circulating the air around your food and because it is convection can cook things at a lower temperature…saving energy.  I also have only CFL’s and even some LED lights through out the home.

I decided to give it a month or two to be absolutely sure that I was getting an accurate electric bill and wasn’t just hallucinating.  Whelp, I got my most recent bill and guess what?!  It was an amazing $58!!!  That’s right people, you heard me correctly $58!  My home is a 1,830 sq. ft. 4 bedroom with 2 1/2 baths.  That’s right!!  Still doubt the benefits of going a little green now?
